💰 The Most Affordable Way to Climb Kilimanjaro

While Superlite is the cheapest climb option available, most who choose it do so for the pure alpine challenge — not to save money. Superlite climbers are typically seasoned mountaineers, used to moving independently and seeking a more personal, physically demanding adventure.

Mount Meru Climb Costs

The regulations on Mount Meru prohibit movement above 2,500 metres altitude on a one-day permit. Our single day Meru itinerary therefore includes a game drive to Arusha National Park once we return on foot to the vehicle point. 

Non-Summit Short Kilimanjaro Climbs & Day Treks

As from July 2026 Team Kilimanjaro are no longer able to sell short climbs that do not attempt to reach the summit. The reason for this is that we have learned from painful experience that we cannot trust the park authorities (KINAPA) to adhere to their own published regulations. The authorities have removed short climb options from their online portal used to book and pay for climb permits, instead requiring that visitors go directly to the park gate on the first day of the proposed trek to be told KINAPA's latest decision on permitting regulations, notwithstanding the fact that tour operators may have made commitments to clients to honour arrangements booked months previously on the basis of regulations that were in force at the time that the client booked their holiday.

Most Kilimanjaro trekkers begin their summit push shortly after midnight. When this ascent coincides with a full moon, the mountain is illuminated naturally, giving far brighter visibility, clearer paths, and a more spectacular horizon. For some climbers this question is almost irrelevant as they will have to fit their climb into whatever dates they can clear from their busy work or family schedules, though for perhaps the majority, this is probably the first question prospective climbers should ask themselves.



You don't need to climb on the dates shown below—we publish these only for those who would like to join other trekkers they don't already know. Most of our clients choose their own dates at no additional cost, although many ask us to open their climb for others to join for some extra company. If you do join a group, you won't need to worry about crowds: except by special agreement, our climbs are limited to just 8 trekkers, allowing the guide to closely monitor everyone, attend to individual needs, and give each person plenty of opportunity to speak with them.


